From the IABC Wellington President: Why I love Wellington (and why you will too).

Nau mai, haere mai (or “Welcome, come in”).

I’ve had the pleasure of calling the Coolest Little Capital in the World home for nearly 6 years. There isn’t a morning when I don’t look out across the harbour and wonder how I got so lucky. Wellington is easily accessible from any continent. For those who want to come see it for themselves, (which you should) it’s a flight in via Auckland or Australia and a short hop via taxi, Uber, or Ola to the city, which is about a 20 minute drive.

Even before you get to your hotel, be sure to grab a flat white using any of the great local roasters, like Supreme, Flight, Peoples, or Havana. Wellingtonians love our coffee, just as much as we love our food and craft brewers— all of which are plentiful around town.

An international city

I’m not the only person from across the sea to call Wellington home; in fact, it’s amazing the number of global citizens who call Wellington home. No matter where you are from, Wellington has something to make you want to call it home. That’s why I’m so thrilled that our city will be the destination for one of the most accessible, vibrant, and relevant conferences for global communications professionals. For those from Aotearoa New Zealand, I ask: how often do we get a conference of the calibre of Fusion? For those from across the Asia Pacific region, I ask: how often do you get a destination you’ve always wanted to visit with and amazing venues like Te Papa and Boomrock? What about hotels like the QT, Rydges, and The Oaks all waiting to welcome you at such affordable prices? (Okay, okay— that was a hard sell, but you should see those prices! Wellington is turning it out for you!)

Don’t miss it!

There can be no doubt: #Fusion20 represents the best of what IABC Asia Pacific and IABC Wellington have to offer. We are bringing together some of the finest speakers, thought leaders, and communications vanguards in one place— at a price that I dare any other organisation to match. In fact, that’s why we’ve made exceptional pricing available for other organisations serving global communications professionals.

#Fusion20 represents the desire to make sure all Communication professionals across the globe have access to the ideas and knowledge that can move us, our profession, and our organisations forward. In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be talking more about the lineup (and it is AMAZING), already confirmed, for the #Fusion20 conference. In the meantime, I encourage you to buy your tickets while they are still at a significant discount, because they will not stay that way.

With that said, hopefully, soon I’ll get to welcome you personally to our city with a ‘kia ora’.

Ngā mihi,
